Khamosh Pani

WOW. What a movie!!! Some movies leave such an impression on you long after you are done watching them. This is definitely one of them. One of those movies where you will feel angry for what you are seeing in the movie and then suddenly realize that these things are happening from a long time in our society and still going on. And we can't do much but curse about them.

This movie deals with the story of a widow Kirron Kher, who is absolutely brilliant in this role. The story is set in a village Charkhi in 1979 Pakistan. How she has to deal with her tormented past and repruccusions of her relationship with her 17 year old son, again played brilliantly by Aamir Ali.

Ofcourse the movie is little slow in the begining but once the story starts developing you won't be able to take your eyes of it. This movie does not favour to one nation or any one religion. It tells you what happened in the past and what is happening now. It is beyond a nation or a religion. I would like to claim it as a Story of a Woman fighting with her past ghosts and troubles in present. Also it is One of the Best Political Movies I have seen.

First time director Sabiha Sumar, does such a wonderful job with the movie. All the awards which she has won were truely deserved.

If you like meaningful movies with subtle message, this one is for you.

Chinmay's scale - ****1/2
